Former DOJ official joins Binance as legal head

Binance US announced on Thursday that Krishna Juvvadi has joined the company as vice president and head of law. Juvvadi comes to Binance from Uber, where he was the global head of operations compliance. Early in his career, he worked as a trial attorney for the US Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division.

Juvvadi will oversee the legal department’s day-to-day operations at Binance US. Norman Reed, who joined Binance US as general counsel in December and has past experience with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, crypto, and fintech, will be his boss.

Brian Shroder, CEO of Binance US, stated:

“Krishna is a qualified legal practitioner whose experience defining and implementing Uber’s regulatory approach applies perfectly to our similarly embryonic, fast-growing business and sector. We understand the necessity of keeping responsive to and compliant with the evolving rules and regulations that govern the crypto ecosystem, and we continue to hire and invest in top legal and compliance personnel to ensure that this goal remains at the forefront of our operations.”

According to a business spokeswoman, Krishna hasn’t replaced anyone because the role of head of legal at Binance US was formed recently.
Binance US and Binance have both been busy employing employees with previous government experience. Juvvadi, Reed, Steven McWhirter, and Stephanie Cabossioras are just a few of the new personnel recruited by the two organisations in recent weeks and months.
