Fireblocks, a leading digital assets platform, has partnered with Google Cloud to integrate the latter’s “Confidential Space” security feature, enhancing its private key management (PKM) services for enterprises and institutions.
The partnership combines Google Cloud’s advanced security tools, including Confidential Space, attestation services, identity and access management (IAM), and key management service (KMS), with Fireblocks’ platform. This integration offers end-to-end security for digital assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Confidential Space, a virtual machine environment built into Google Cloud, encrypts data continuously—even while in use—providing a robust layer of protection beyond traditional encryption methods.
Fireblocks announced the collaboration on Nov. 27, 2024, marking a significant step in advancing security solutions for digital asset operations amid increasing institutional adoption of blockchain and Web3 technologies.
The integration will be deployed through Google Cloud’s global infrastructure, enabling Fireblocks to serve clients across various industries and jurisdictions with enhanced security and scalability for digital asset management.
The digital assets industry demands high levels of privacy and security to safeguard against evolving threats. Fireblocks CEO Michael Shaulov stated that integrating Google Cloud’s Confidential Space allows customers to conduct critical operations in a secure and scalable environment. This partnership is aimed at addressing the needs of large enterprises and institutions seeking enhanced security measures for their digital asset operations.
Google Cloud’s Confidential Space creates an isolated, encrypted environment for data, ensuring assets remain secure even during active use. This eliminates vulnerabilities associated with traditional encryption, which only protects data during storage or transmission. According to Rene Kolga, senior product manager at Google Cloud, the service has already gained traction in the Web3 industry. By joining forces with Fireblocks, Google Cloud aims to expand its presence in the rapidly growing digital assets sector.
Fireblocks’ collaboration with Google Cloud builds on its reputation as a trusted provider of secure asset solutions, following its recent partnership with Immutable to help Web3 game developers manage digital assets securely. This move positions both companies to lead the way in setting new security standards for the evolving digital economy.
