Facebook and Instagram won’t take commission from creators on their revenue until 2024: Meta CEO

The social media giant Meta, formerly known as Facebook, just made a major announcement that Facebook and Instagram creators won’t be required to give a share of their earnings to the network until 2024. Earlier, Meta announced that it would stop paying out money until 2023.

In a brief post on his official page on June 21, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the organisation shall withhold its profit-sharing on Instagram and Facebook until 2024. The creators will get 2 more years to collect 100% of the income made by fan subscription, sponsored events, badges, and also other ways. In an effort to attract creators back from websites like TikTok, firms are expanding the number of methods for them to create revenue.

 Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted:

“We’ll hold off on any revenue sharing on Facebook and Instagram until 2024. That includes Subscriptions, paid online events, Bulletin, and Badges.

Furthermore, he also unveiled new opportunities for Facebook and Instagram to make money. The list consists of Stars, digital collectibles, and interoperable subscriptions. According to Zuckerberg, these capabilities will assist developers in building for the metaverse.

Zuckerberg added:

“We’ll bring this feature to Facebook soon too — starting with a small group of US creators — so people can cross-post on Instagram and Facebook,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post adding, “We’ll also test NFTs in Instagram Stories with SparkAR soon.”

 Facebook and Instagram new features are on their way:

  • Interoperable Subscriptions: Meta is allowing makers to consider giving their subscribers on some other portals access to subscriber-only Facebook groups, claiming that it is the company’s first asset in interoperable monetization techniques for creators.
  • Facebook Stars: Zuckerberg also stated that the firm is expanding its tipping technology known as Stars to all qualifying artists so more users could make money through the Reels, live, or VOD videos. Facebook Stars were offered to artists that have at least 1,000 subscribers in the last 60 days and fulfil partner monetization of Meta and content monetization guidelines.
  • Monetizing Reels: Moreover, the firm is expanding the Reels Play Bonus structure to new Facebook creators. This will allow them to cross-post existing Instagram Reels over Facebook and monetize them. Creators in the United States with 5 or more Reels and at least 100,000 views in the last 30 days may enrol.
  • Creator Marketplace: According to the Meta CEO, the firm has begun testing a dedicated Instagram space where creators can be recognized and rewarded, along with businesses which can offer new collaboration opportunities.
  • Digital Collectibles: Meta is extending the digital collectibles test which will allow more creators globally to exhibit their NFTs on Instagram. It is Initially beginning with a smaller group in America along with plans to grow to Facebook and test NFTs in Instagram with Spark AR.
