An explosion last week at a bitcoin mining facility’s substation in Niagara Falls, New York, caused a fire and necessitated the suspension of thousands of machines.
Blockfusion, which offers colocation services to miners, owns the site where the accident happened on May 10.
Bit Digital, one of their clients, said on Thursday that power had been switched off to about 2,515 of their Bitcoin miners and approximately 710 Ethereum miners that had been operating at the site.
“Operations are hoped to restart within a few weeks, but there can be no certainties as to time frame at this time,” the business added. “Blockfusion is working with the utility and its insurance to restore electricity as soon as feasible.”
According to Bit Digital, no one was wounded during the event, and no serious damage was done to the mining centre building or Bit Digital’s miners.
According to Bit Digital: “The explosion and fire are thought to have been caused by faulty electrical utility equipment.” Blockfusion and the company plan to pursue claims, including trying to recoup lost income.”
A total of 1,580 Bit Digital miners operating in different locations in New York recently lost power. Digihost Technology, their hosting partner at that location, stated that they required additional approvals from power authorities.
