On June 24, the American rapper Eminem tweeted about a new song called “From The D2 The LBC.” The video for the song is produced in a comic book style, with two cartoon monkeys representing the artists and their relationship with BAYC.
In the song’s chorus, the two performers celebrate their hometowns of Detroit and Long Beach, respectively. “Put your doobies high if you live in 213, let’s see them blunts raised / Whether you east or west side of the 313, let’s see them firearms ignite,” the song’s lyrics say.
While changing into Bored Ape avatars, the two artists execute their roles in the song. A teaser of the song was played during Ape Fest 2022. The release of this song increased the value of ApeCoin (APE) by around 22%. However, the token is already undoing these gains, falling by almost 7% in the last 24 hours. APE was trading at 4.79 at the time of writing.
Celebrities have been drawn to the BAYC collection. Other musicians that purchased the BAYC collection, in addition to Snoop and Eminem, were Justin Bieber and Madonna. Last year, Eminem paid $462,00 for his BAYC on the OpenSea marketplace.
Snoop Dogg has made investments in crypto-related businesses. Snoop, along with other musicians such as Justin Bieber and actor Bruce Willis, invested in MoonPay, an on-and-off-ramp service, in April. MoonPay has also collaborated with Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Records to launch an NFT marketplace.
