Dogechain is now live on Polygon Edge

On June 2, Polygon Edge made an official announcement on Twitter about the availability of Dogechain on their network. Dogechain’s use of Polygon Edge may mean that it now has the inherent potential to deploy dApps, develop NFTs, and even build blockchain games. Polygon Edge is an extensible and modular framework for creating Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks, sidechains, and general scaling solutions. Its major purpose is to provide complete compatibility with Ethereum smart contracts and transactions while bootstrapping a new blockchain network.

As a result, users now have a long-term and low-cost way of imbuing the original Dogecoin with Ethereum smart contract capability. Dogecoin users would now have access to DeFi and NFTs, paving the path for Web3, a new, decentralised internet.

Polygon Edge includes a decentralised Ethereum Bridge solution for cross-chain communication. Users may send and receive ERC-20 tokens, NFTs, and wrapped native currencies from any EVM or Substrate network using this feature. Polygon Edge also enables EVM, allowing developers to implement Ethereum smart contracts directly on their chain. In the meanwhile, this will continue to be compliant with Ethereum’s smart contract specifications, opening the door for ecosystem compatibility.

To some extent, the fact that Dogechain now uses Polygon Edge as its core architecture makes it EVM compatible, suggesting that Dogechain tokens generated via the ERC-20 protocol may now be utilised in the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem. It also supports smart contracts, letting Dogecoin holders use DOGE to pay for gas for dApps launched on the chain.

Michi Lumin, a Dogecoin Core developer, recently tweeted about Blue Pepper’s Dogecoin-Ethereum bridge. The Dogecoin-Ethereum bridge technology enables DOGE to be transferred between the Dogecoin and Ethereum blockchains. Dogecoins may be used on Ethereum just like any other ERC-20 token, enabling them to be invested in DeFi protocols and used to purchase NFTs. As a result, Dogecoin users will be able to utilise DeFi, NFTs, and all of the Ethereum platform’s dApps.
