Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini report says one-fifth of Britons own cryptocurrency

A survey conducted by cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, nearly one-fifth of Britons (18%) own cryptocurrency. According to the findings, crypto ownership on British soil has been trending because a study conducted by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in 2021 found that between 3.9 percent and 4.4 percent of Britons owned digital assets.

An observation made by the head of Gemini, Blair Halliday in the United Kingdom “2021 was a watershed moment for cryptocurrency ownership in the United Kingdom.” “Confidence in and awareness of cryptocurrency has skyrocketed.”

The study polled 2,300 people in the United Kingdom, and nearly half of those polled said that they had invest in cryptocurrencies for the first time in 2021.

As per the report “45 percent of British cryptocurrency owners said they invested for the first time last year.” It coincided with a market rally, with Bitcoin reaching an all-time high of more than $68,000 in November.”

The FCA, the UK’s financial watchdog, may issue a warning about these findings because it has expressed reservations about investors entering the crypto space if they do not fully understand the risks.

Crypto adoption is becoming popular around the world. According to a recent study conducted by Arcane Research and Ernst & Young (EY), 10% of Norwegian adults own cryptocurrency, which is double the rate recorded in 2018.

As per the report a recent NBC News poll found that one in every five Americans has used, traded, or invested in cryptocurrency.
