Cryptocurrencies in Iran’s foreign trade may be accepted soon: Report

According to the Mehr News Agency, The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and the Ministry of Trade of Iran have agreed to link the CBI’s payment platform for allowing enterprises to settle payments using cryptocurrencies. The new payment system is most likely to be finalised within the upcoming two weeks as per Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, Mr Alireza Peyman-Pak.

He is said to have stated that the usage of cryptocurrencies in international commercial transactions will open up new opportunities for import and export in Iran.

He further said that the government really shouldn’t overlook the crypto industry in terms of business and economic prospects, pointing to prominent cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC).

According to reports, the Iranian government is working on a method to allow the use of cryptocurrencies in foreign trade.

The crypto field is already linked to uncertain outcomes in Iran, as Iran’s top blockchain group raising apprehensions about crypto legislation enforced in later 2021. The Iranian authorities have also started shutting down energy to local Bitcoin miners frequently, by claiming temperature variations as a reason.
