Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, formerly known as “BitBoy,” found himself in a whirlwind of controversy as he was arrested while livestreaming outside the residence of a former business associate, alleging that his Lamborghini was in the possession of the said associate. The bizarre incident unfolded in front of a live online audience, leaving viewers stunned.
Prior to the YouTube livestream, Armstrong cryptically hinted at his plans by posting that he would be “going live soon from a very special location.” Less than an hour later, he was broadcasting from the front of consultant and nonfungible token investor Carlos Diaz’s house, who reportedly has ties to the Hit Network.
In a dramatic outburst, Armstrong accused Diaz of wanting to harm him and claimed that Diaz had connections with the Houston mafia. Shouting defiantly into the camera, Armstrong seemed unafraid of the consequences, until local police arrived at the scene. They questioned Armstrong about the presence of any weapons, which he denied. Subsequently, he was instructed to put down his phone, and the livestream went dark for the remaining 17 minutes. However, audio continued to capture the conversation between Armstrong and the police officers.
Records from the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office revealed that a Benjamin Charles Armstrong was booked on September 25 at 9:11 pm local time and remains in custody. On September 26, Carlos Diaz confirmed Armstrong’s visit to his residence.
Blockchain sleuth “ZachXBT” expressed satisfaction at the turn of events, stating, “Will always celebrate one of the most notorious bad actors in crypto finally getting karma.” In late August, the Hit Network, which controlled the “BitBoy Crypto” brand, severed ties with Ben Armstrong, citing issues related to substance abuse and financial harm to employees.
Since then, multiple lawsuits involving various parties have surfaced and subsequently been withdrawn. Armstrong even resorted to soliciting donations on September 20 to fund his legal battles, a move that sparked controversy within the crypto community.
The arrest of Ben Armstrong, a prominent figure in the crypto space, while livestreaming outside his former associate’s residence, adds a peculiar chapter to the ongoing saga surrounding his personal and professional life, leaving the crypto community both shocked and intrigued.
