Chainlink launches price feed technology on Solana for DeFi developers

On June 3, Chainlink, a blockchain oracle platform, announced that the platform has  launched its price feed technology on the Solana blockchain. It will enable Solana DeFi developers to access real-time pricing for a number of financial services. Solana developers can now access seven particular Chainlink Price Feeds (counting BTC/USD, USDC/USD, ETH/USD, and others). With this Chainlink aims to develop another universe of hybrid smart contract applications that give prevalent execution in exchange and risk management. Many new Chainlink Price Feeds and other Chainlink oracle services will be made only available to Solana developers.

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, emphasised:

“Chainlink’s launch on Solana will give DeFi developers access to the most widely used oracles in blockchain. Solana’s high-speed blockchain can deliver high-frequency pricing data to dapps, enabling developers to build new DeFi dapps and products.”

Sergey Nazarov, co-founder of Chainlink, stated:

“By providing the most reliable and highest quality data to the already lightning fast Solana blockchain, the Chainlink integration with Solana is a major leap forward for the kind of scalable, institutional-grade, DeFi applications that can be built only on Solana.” “Chainlink is now the most robust and comprehensive oracle network on the Solana blockchain, and we anticipate its role in the Solana ecosystem to expand as we integrate more price feeds and additional off-chain services.”

Since the launch, Chainlink has grasped the attention of many famous Solana-based DeFi projects which include stablecoin UPFI, yield aggregation apps Francium and Tulip, lending protocol Apricot Finance, and others.

Yaniv Hou, co-founder and tech lead at Apricot Finance, remarked:

“We chose to underpin our lending activity with Chainlink Price Feeds because of their unmatched security and proven performance. Now, Apricot can push the frontier of DeFi innovation on Solana while supported by the most secure, reliable, and time-tested market data solution available.”

Chainlink also plans to release the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) later this year. The CCIP will develop a new worldwide standard for decentralised inter-blockchain communications, data, and token transfers. Solana users and developers will be able to move tokens and execute smart contracts across several blockchains, allowing the construction of cross-chain apps via the usage of the Chainlink oracle networks.
