Yuga Labs, the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, released a teaser trailer for a new project called ‘Otherside’.
The teaser doesn’t reveal much about what ‘Otherside’ is, but recent hints – as well as information in a report by The Block’s Ryan Weeks – clearly suggests that ‘Otherside’ will focus on the “cultural, gaming, and commerce” mentioned in ApeCoin’s announcement this week. The teaser tweet implies that ApeCoin will be used in the project.
Yuga Labs was originally believed to be working on a gaming-centric virtual environment compatible with several sorts of popular NFTs.
The teaser includes images from NFT collections such as Mutant Apes, CryptoPunks, and Meebits, the latter of which was the focus of an IP acquisition agreement between Yuga Labs and Larva Labs, the creators of CryptoPunks and Meebits. The teaser had over 60,000 views as of press time.
Animoca Brands subsidiary nWay on March 16 said on twitter that it was working on a new “play-to-earn game” in conjunction with BAYC. At this moment, it’s unclear whether the teaser is directly tied to that particular endeavor. Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca, sits on the board of ApeCoin’s decentralised autonomous organisation.
According to the report, ApeCoin is currently selling at around $14.20 per coin.
