According to Zuellig Pharma, a new management system, eZTracker, will allow customers to instantly identify the source and reliability of vaccines via a mobile app. It could prevent accidents by identifying which vaccine has expired or improperly stored.
The eZTracker uses the SAP blockchain to collect, track multiple data points to improve supply chain transparency. The SAP works as a BlockchainasService (BaaS), allowing customers to develop customized blockchain extensions for their existing applications. According to SAP, 77 percent of global transaction revenue comes from one of those systems.
In 2020, Zuellig partnered with pharmaceutical company MSD to deploy eATracker in Hong Kong, where it was used to trace Gardasil’s HPV vaccines. “As the vaccines pass through various transport points in the supply chain, the product data points are uploaded into eZTracker`s secure blockchain ledger which ensures no tampering,” Laverick explained.
