Blast Royale, a blockchain-based play-and-earn mobile game, has completed a $5 million private token sale, according to First Light Games.
Animoca Brands and Mechanism Capital co-led the round, which included Dragonfly Capital, DeFiance Capital, Play Ventures Future Fund, Double Peak, Polygon, C2 Ventures, Morningstar Ventures, DWeb3, Merit Circle, Ancient 8, AvocadoDAO, as well as notable angel investors Santiago R Santos and Nick Chong.
Neil McFarland, CEO of First Light Games, detailed the following on funding:

All of our partners share our goal of making Blast Royale one of the best gaming games available, with engaging, exciting gameplay and a Battle Royale game that is appropriate for the Web3 age.”
The money received will go toward continuing to develop the game, attracting great talent, and expanding the game’s community. Blast Royale is a game based on the Polygon L2 chain that will be released on the testnet at the end of Q2. Players put NFT goods on their characters and compete in Battle Royales to earn ‘Craft Spice,’ which they may use to modify and strengthen their gear. Equipment has also been given a competitive metagame layer, providing players with strategic control over the best loadout to carry into battle. Later this year, tournaments and high-stakes Blast Royales are also planned as part of First Light Games’ esports effort.
