Bastian Lehmann, the CEO of the Uber-acquired food delivery company Postmates, is apparently planning to set up a cryptocurrency startup, making him the latest tech personality to go into web3.
According to the German fintech publication Finance FWD, Lehmann’s LinkedIn profile states that he is now working on a company in stealth mode, and in February he applied to establish “Tiptop Labs” in the US state of Delaware.
With the black bars, Tiptop Labs’ website states that they will set out to establish a financial solution that bridges fiat and crypto. In addition, the company is looking for a blockchain engineer to work on systems at the “intersection of fiat and crypto.”
The announcement comes on top of similar influxes of personnel from conventional IT professions to more crypto-focused projects. Binance hired several ex-Microsoft and Agoda executives earlier this month to develop its web3 offerings. Polygon Studios reportedly recruited ex-Electronic Arts executive Michael Blank and Young Ko, who formerly worked as VP at Penske Media, last month.
