Azuki, an anime avatars NFT collection, is in a close battle with the CryptoPunks for the weekly sales volume title, building on its successful launch month in January.
On Friday, Azuki traded the top rank with CryptoPunks multiple times, but as of press time, the two were separated by less than US$500,000. Azuki’s weekly success caps a 30-day period in which the collection’s sales volume climbed by 473.95 percent, setting an industry record.
On Jan. 12, Azuki debuted 10,000 NFTs, which sold out in minutes and generated over $300 million in sales in the first month. The NFT business grew to a US$41 billion industry in 2021, with CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club leading the way in overall trading volumes, both exceeding a billion dollars.
This year, Azuki made a big splash in the market, and it’s already the sixth most popular NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain. According to CryptoSlam, Azuki’s floor price on the OpenSea NFT marketplace is 14.19 ETH (US$41,672), with some collectibles fetching over half a million dollars.
It’s a wrap for this story.
