AMC Theatres has announced that their mobile app now accepts online payments in Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and other crypto tokens.
AMC Theatres had previously stated that it would begin taking more cryptocurrencies for movie tickets in the near future, and the firm has delivered on that promise. In a Twitter post, AMC Theatres’ Chief Executive Officer, Adam Aron, stated that the new bitcoin feature is in collaboration with cryptocurrency payment service provider Bitpay.
Adam Aron, AMC Theatres CEO, tweeted the following:
Following the addition of the tokens, AMC now accepts cryptocurrency payments for movie tickets purchased online. This is in addition to the AMC’s online payment portal’s other payment choices. To take advantage of the extra possibilities, prospective ticket holders need to update to the latest version of the app via Google Pay or Apple Pay. With the exception of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, the company does not offer a large choice of digital asset payment options to crypto consumers.
Crypto adoption as payment
AMC’s announcement of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu acceptance follows Rappi, a Colombian delivery app, announcing the opening of a test programme in Mexico to accept crypto payments. Rappi has offices in a number of Latin American nations.
More mainstream businesses are accepting digital currencies as payment for their goods and services. Dogecoin has also piqued the interest of a number of merchants as the token’s use as a payment option grows.
Let us see when PVR cinemas in India start accepting cryptocurrencies as payments.
