According to a recent NBC News study, one out of every five Americans has used, invested in, or exchanged cryptocurrency. A total of 1,000 Americans took part in the poll, which was conducted between March 18 and 22. One of the important findings was that 21% of participants had already dabbled in cryptocurrency in some way.
Men aged 18 to 49 made up the largest demographic group, with over half claiming to have used cryptocurrency. They were joined by 42% of people in their twenties and thirties. In terms of general attitudes towards the industry, NBC’s poll indicated that “just 19% of those polled by NBC News said they see crypto favourably, while 25% said they perceive it unfavourably.” The remaining respondents were either undecided or neutral. The findings come as the US government tries to work out its strategy for regulating cryptocurrency.
Last month, President Joe Biden’s White House issued a research-focused executive order, urging the exploration of several areas as well as the creation of a US-focused central bank digital currency. On a number of fronts, Congress is considering regulatory methods that could redefine how agencies like the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission oversee US-based companies.
