Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar has appreciated blockchain as a technology that has the potential to transform the entertainment industry. He also said that technology might bring in new forms of financing.
He believes the future of Hollywood is in blockchain technology, which he claims could transform the entertainment industry. This is especially true, according to Kilar, in an era when purchasing digital collectibles has grown much simpler.
According to Reuters, Kilar likened the technology’s potential to that of a digital versatile disc (DVD) before it became popular.
“I believe it’s going to be a potential wave that comes to Hollywood, in the same way that the DVD wave came to Hollywood in the ’90s”, said Kilar.
The outgoing CEO actually admitted that although DVDs were eventually successful, they changed the economic fortunes of numerous entertainment organisations, including Warner Media. Still, for Kilar, who is known for pushing for technological adoption and reforms in the entertainment sector, the blockchain might bring new sources of finance.
