This expansion has created a new perspective regarding cryptocurrency investing, particularly in the mainstream media. Celebrity tokens bring the engagement of Indonesian celebrities and influencers is one illustration of cryptocurrency’s rising public appeal.

Indonesian celebrities embrace crypto

Since 2021, celebrities and influencers in Indonesia appear to have been significantly more interested in the country’s crypto investing business.

Many people have become brand ambassadors for exchanges and crypto projects in order to help promote them and increase trade volume.

Individuals such as Joe Taslim, an Indonesian actor who has gone worldwide, and Indonesian models and actresses Jessica Iskandar and Shandy Aulia’s engagement may not be surprising, given celebrities’ pervasive influence in advertising and branding.

Some celebrities have even launched their own cryptocurrencies. The popularity of celebrity tokens has exploded, especially when one of Indonesia’s most renowned artists, Anang Hermansyah, established his own token.

As of February 2022, three tokens have gone viral in Indonesia: VCG (VCG), Asix (ASIX), and I-Coin (ICN).

  • Anang Hermansyah, a well-known personality in Indonesia’s music business, leads Asix.
  • VCG became viral as a result of a collaboration with RANS Entertainment. Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina, a married couple who are major movie actors and business executives in Indonesia, run this firm.
  • Wirda Mansur, a famous person and the daughter of a well-known Indonesian Islamic imam, founded I-Coin.

The names of celebrities who have backed them and their marketing staff have helped their token go viral, instilling fear of missing out, or FOMO, in Indonesia’s beginner investors.

But, long before this, the movement began with an influencer named Indra Kenz, who established his own cryptocurrency, Botxcoin, with his crew (BOTX).

Celebrity NFT initiatives include BOTX, an Ethereum-based project that aims to be a decentralised social trading platform when it launches in 2021. BOTX is Indonesia’s first celebrity token, with the objective of becoming the country’s first decentralised copy trading platform for crypto.

Following its release, influencers appeared to be paying greater attention to the developing blockchain and crypto craze. The movement prompted a slew of influencers to discuss cryptocurrencies on their own social media platforms.

When this occurred, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were immensely popular in Indonesia, especially when the Indonesian NFT collection “Ghozali Everyday” became internationally renowned for its distinctiveness.

As a result of the growing popularity of NFT and cryptocurrency, influencers and celebrities have begun to develop their own NFT and cryptocurrency initiatives.

The trend persisted, with more Indonesian celebrities investigating, promoting, and developing their own NFT initiatives.

Actor Brandon Salim, famous Indonesian chef Arnold Poernomo, and influencer Jejouw are just a few examples of current Indonesian influencers and celebrities backing NFT ventures. They sponsored “Karafuru,” one of the most successful NFT projects in Indonesia that has gone worldwide, with a current trading volume of 37,200 Ether (ETH).
