Basketball giant LeBron James all set to score in NFT too, files Trademark

LeBron James is likely to join a growing number of celebrities who have jumped on board with the NFT. The Los Angeles Lakers forward was spotted filing four trademark applications for non-traditional forms of currency and virtual valuables. Trademark attorney @KondoudisLaw pointed out the filing on Twitter. It was not immediately apparent when the collection would be released or on what platform.

The 37-year-old basketballer is no stranger to the world of cryptocurrency. He was seen conversing with his younger self in a Superbowl commercial for crypto.com earlier this year.

On the NBA’s officially licensed “Top Shots” marketplace, which is operated by Dapper Labs, digital memorabilia featuring James are already available. According to Yahoo Sports, a top shot depicting a slam dunk by James sold for $400,000 in April.

James will join a growing number of celebrities and musicians that have dabbled in NFTs. On Tuesday, music producer SIA revealed that she used the alias Bianca de Medici to participate in the NFT marketplace OpenSea.
