Magic Eden, a Solana non fungible token has announced a partnership with popular sporting entertainment platform Overtime to offer an NFT collection intended to increase fan engagement and provide special experiences.
The partnership is based on the 2022 NCAA men’s basketball tournament, a national collegiate championship conference known as March Madness and one of the major sporting events in the United States.
The competition will begin on March 15 and end on April 4 with a final match at the almost 75,000-seat Caesars Superdome stadium in New Orleans.
With over 1 million and 6.5 million followers on Twitter and Instagram, respectively, cross-media entertainment brand Overtime has received $135 million in funding from prestigious venture capitalists Spark Capital and Bezos Expeditions, as well as leading contributions in both Series A and Series B rounds from Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z.
Similarly, Magic Eden has grown in popularity in the years since its establishment in September 2017, reporting about $400 million in trade volume over the previous 30 days as the biggest DApp on Solana and exceeding OpenSea’s daily transaction value in December last year.
More recently, the site revealed intentions to launch a decentralised autonomous organisation, or DAO, by distributing a three-tiered NFT airdrop to dedicated users to start the process.
