Data firm chainalysis claims cryptocurrency-based crime reached an all-time high in 2021

- Overall legal payments also hit an all-time high.
- criminal transactions employing cryptocurrencies totaled $14 billion, which took 79 percent rise from 2020.
- cryptocurrency payments increased 567 percent year over year to $15.8 trillion.
- Illegal transactions accounted for 0.15 percent of total transactions.
- Scams shot up by 82 percent from the preceding year.
- illegal addresses presently hold at least $10 billion in cryptocurrencies.
