Ukraine President launches fundraising platform which allow donors to allocate funds

On 5th May, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy launched a new fundraising site United24, It allows a variety of cryptocurrencies as well as standard payment mode. Donors can also determine how their funds are spent through the programme.

Recently Ukraine has become increasingly reliant on foreign donations to support its defence efforts and overcome humanitarian challenges in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion. United24 provides an integrated platform that streamlines the process and allocates financial assistance in accordance to the donor’s wishes.

According to the source, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established United24 as the primary platform for collecting philanthropic donations to support Ukraine. Last week, the Ukrainian president announced the worldwide campaign, with his government stating that the goal is to unite individuals from all around the world in their desire to aid the country.

“Everyone can make a one-click donation from any country. Individual, conscious citizens, entrepreneurs and large technology corporations.”

Donors can choose from a variety of payment options. Traditional approaches such as credit card, and Paypal are among them. Whitepay, a provider of a point-of-sale (POS) solution for cryptocurrency payments, allows members of the crypto community to send monies in a variety of coins ranging from BTC and BCH to USDT and DOGE.

Ukraine has already received millions of dollars in cryptocurrency donations, and the Ukrainian government opened a website called “Aid For Ukraine” in March for individuals who want to give digital currencies. It was declared after media reports revealed an increase in ‘Help Ukraine’ cryptocurrency frauds.

The financial support will be divided into three categories: defence and demining, humanitarian and medical assistance, and Ukraine reconstruction. When people and organisations click the ‘Make a donation’ button, they are invited to select one of three options.

The collected cash will be placed in accounts at the National Bank of Ukraine designated for the Ministries of Defense, Healthcare, and Infrastructure, which will use the funds to meet the most immediate requirements. Every week, they will provide an update on the allocation of the donations.

The effort will be overseen by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov. Deloitte Ukraine, a consulting and auditing firm that is part of the Deloitte international network, will evaluate the ministries’ quarterly reports.
