Cardano (ADA) plans to launch anti-counterfeit platform

The development studio behind the Cardano (ADA) blockchain, Input Output Global, has announced the details of its new product. It intends to solve the issue of counterfeiting in FCMG by using blockchain instruments and microchips.

The IOG team issued a blog post today, May 4, 2022, to highlight the newest addition to its dApp ecosystem, anti-counterfeit tool Atala SCAN.

The new protocol is based on “touch-chip” technology, which uses microchips as “smart seals” to verify the authenticity of a drug or spirit. Atala SCAN provides this seal with an auditable link that may provide detailed information about the product’s manufacturing and distribution cycle.

As its technological platform, Atala SCAN uses Cardano (ADA), the world’s biggest Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network, which ensures the integrity and visibility of all data inside the system. According to the statement, this design offers many benefits over the previous generation of verification tools, which included “seals, holograms, and attractive packaging.”

Atala SCAN project manager Juan Ignacio Sierra is certain that the new platform will shift the narrative on anti-counterfeit measures.

Working with this method requires no additional skills: the authenticity of a product may be verified with a few taps on a smartphone. As a result, end users and watchdogs may begin using it immediately when the mainnet is launched.

The Atala SCAN module is deployed at the first point in the supply chain where the product is delivered to the brand owner. The owner records information about the commodity in his or her personal register.

Then, for each item, a unique transaction is made on the Cardano (ADA) blockchain. Through the integrated smart chip, the brand owner has the ability to control which information is released to the end user.

In addition to authenticity data, it may also contain information about the current marketing effort.
