Bored Yacht Club NFT creator Yuga Labs on Sept 16, announces via press release that Spencer Tucker will join the company as the first chief gaming officer.
As per the release, Spencer Tucker will be in charge of managing the development of Yuga’s Web3 gaming efforts, commencing with the “Otherside” metaverse. Notingly, Otherside made waves on Ethereum in January of this year by selling land valued at 561 million NFTs in just one day for $561 million.
Tucker on joining Yuga Labs
Tucker has prior expertise working in the mobile gaming sector from his positions as Senior Vice President of Product at GREE and President of Games at Scopely. Tucker also expressed his excitement about joining Yuga, the organisation that owns the CryptoPunks and the Meebits NFTs, on LinkedIn.
As per the Tucker :
“I believe the future of gaming will be powered by player ownership, social collaboration, and creative expression.”
On this matter Yuga CEO Nicole Muniz said, gaming will be the prime focus for the firm. It’s noteworthy since the NFT company has four of the five biggest Ethereum NFT collections that OpenSea has ever counted.
Currently Yuga labs has a total valuation of over $4 billion and in a recent investment round the company raised $450 million. Yuga labs consist of 60 employees. Moreover, the company is planning to employ a full 100 individuals by the end of 2022.
However, the first Web3 product was recently made available on the well-known PC gaming store, Epic Games Store. The game in question is Blankos Block Party, an NFT-powered online creative game.
The Mythical Games game’s open beta testing started in December 2020. Additionally, the game’s creator reported in June 2022 that it had amassed over a million players on its official website.
