On September 26, the leading American multinational retail corporation, Walmart, launched its two new initiatives, Walmart Land and Walmart’s Universe of Play, to target Roblox’s reported player base of 52 million.
According to their announcement, the company will primarily focus on the fashion, beauty, and entertainment divisions of Walmart Land’s interactive and immersive experiences, which will be located on a variety of “isles.” The Walmart Universe of Play is a veritable paradise for kids when it comes to toys, and they may enjoy it.
In order to promote its corporate marketing plan, Walmart has joined the ranks of high-profile fashion powerhouses like Gucci and Ralph Lauren in using Roblox’s massive following. The gaming business made the announcement that it would include in-game 3-D portals that would lead visitors to sponsored experiences such as Chipotle’s virtual eateries and Gucci’s Gucci Town.
Walmart’s official tweet over its plans:
In 2004, David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, the company’s founders, came up with the concept of Roblox as a gaming centre that would include games created by a variety of different developers. 2006 was the year that formally marked the beginning of the firm.
The next generation of consumers will be the focus of many of the immersive experiences that Walmart Land will provide. Among them will be the music-centric Electric Island and Electric Fest, as well as the fashion and beauty-centric House of Style. In addition, users are able to engage in competitions and activities in which they may earn tokens to use inside the game, as well as buy virtual goods from a virtual shop.
On the other hand, Walmart Play will provide five immersive games featuring characters from Jurassic World, Paw Patrol, and Razor Scooters, and will let players earn cash for collecting virtual products. Hoverboards will be available for use by the players’ avatars so that they may travel about the virtual environments.
