Polygon collabs with NGO OCEEF to enhance ocean literacy

On October 6, the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation (OCEEF) and decentralised Ethereum scaling platform Polygon announced their partnership to enhance ocean literacy by developing new methods for exposing people to deep-sea missions.

As one of the world’s most cutting-edge ocean research vessels, the RV Odyssey, our cooperation intends to provide participants with participatory experiences through a governance platform where they may influence important decisions.

Additionally, Polygon indicated that this product would be funded by the sale of NFTs and that OCEEF would benefit from increased engagement thanks to Polygon’s distributed governance platform.

It is asserted that Polygon aids in democratising access to RV Odyssey by utilising Metaverse and other Web3 features. With this, individuals can plan the future course of the ship, conduct research, and even take part in mission-related activities.

OCEEF Founder Alex Moukas at the Green Blockchain Summit 2.0 hosted by Polygon.

“Using our Polygon partnership and its carbon-neutral tech as a launchpad, we will be using technology to democratise access to the vessel through multiple Web3 platforms as well as provide participants with the ability to help decide the vessel’s future itinerary and research.”

The core team of Polygon made the commitment to become carbon-negative by the end of the year and pledged $20 million to climate-related projects in April. Since that time, Polygon has eliminated 104,794 tonnes of greenhouse emissions, which is more than the network’s whole historical CO2 debt.
