Norwegian Government Plans To Enter In Metaverse With EY

The Brønnøysund Register Center, which is part of the Norwegian government, has collaborated with Ernst & Young (EY), one of the Big Four accounting firms, to establish a new virtual office site in order to join the metaverse. The centre is in charge of handling several public registers in Norway in addition to the technologies that facilitate the digital flow of information between the government and its citizens.

According to the release, the organisation has decided to establish a site in the metaverse because “the future consumers of public services are there,” and it wants to interact with the younger generation that makes use of its services. The Norwegian Tax Agency will provide users of the virtual office with information about crypto reporting, while the Brnnysund Registers will provide users with information on how to create a business. Both of these services will be offered via the virtual office.

According to Andreas Hamnes, a business developer at Brønnøysund Registers, if services continue to evolve in the same manner as they do today, it will lead to an increase in the level of alienation experienced by generations who were “born digital.” Jones went on to add that the next generation is the one who is actually developing “DeFi-based landscapes,” and that this generation often does not understand or is unaware of the tax or legal repercussions of their actions.

EY also has a metaverse office site in Decentraland, which came about as a result of its various Web3 advancements. These developments include investments of many millions of dollars in the creation of its own blockchain suite. Initial reports suggested that there were only around 40 individual wallets that were actively being used on the metaverse network. Both DappRadar, which was the source of the data, and Decentraland were responsible for correcting these statistics.

In the weeks that followed the event, creators of the metaverse as well as investors in the metaverse expressed their conviction that the metaverse would continue to play a significant role in the foreseeable future of the internet.
