Flipkart Announces The Launch Of Its New Platform,”Flipverse”

On October 17, the most popular online retailer in India, Flipkart, made the formal announcement that it would be launching a new platform called Flipverse. The goal of this new platform is to bring together the best parts of both online and in-person shopping.

The biggest local e-commerce platforms in India are progressively experimenting with blockchain technology and the metaverse, which is providing Indian consumers with more choices for a digital buying experience. The gamified and interactive metaverse offers consumers in India the opportunity to test out items from companies such as Puma and Nivea.

Flipverse was developed in partnership with the organization eDAO, which was fostered by Polygon. It gives users the ability to create a metaverse avatar and shop in a virtual environment. The overall goal of the project is to bring customers closer to their favourite companies. At the same time, companies will be able to make and build their own digital twins that are ready for the metaverse inside the virtual world.

In addition to supporting one-of-a-kind digital collectibles, Flipverse will also host competitions and provide access to special brand deals. According to the release, Flipverse will include a large variety of different companies. Some of these brands include Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, and Campus, among others. Flipkart’s recently launched online shopping platform, FireDrops, will be the venue for the new shopping experience to be made accessible.

Reports say that the Flipverse programme is now in the pilot phase and that they hope to get people interested during the holiday season, which starts this month.

The metaverse is one of the “major revolutions” in the growth of e-commerce, as described by Naren Ravula, vice president of product strategy at Flipkart Labs, and it has a tremendous amount of potential, as stated by Naren Ravula. Ravula said that the company’s goal is to improve consumers’ shopping experiences by giving them access to their favourite brands, deals, SuperCoins, and digital collectibles in a virtual and immersive setting.

There are more companies in India besides Flipkart that are doing experiments with  metaverse. In February of 2022, the Indian multinational technology corporation Tech Mahindra announced the introduction of TechMVerse, with the intention of providing clients with experiences that are both interactive and immersive. According to reports, the company has been working on as many as 60 different metaverse projects as of July 2022.
